Democracy Docket Turns Six🎂

Where to find me in these difficult times.

Six years ago today, I launched Democracy Docket with no full-time staff or subscribers. At the time, pro-democracy independent media was rare. Newsletters had not yet taken off in popularity. I had no idea what to expect.

Today, it has a staff of 22, more than 400,000 free subscribers and over 60,000 paying members.

If I had started it later, Democracy Docket might have lived on Substack. Instead, it operates as a standalone site with its own look, feel, and mission.
